Nauyaca Waterfall

Nauyaca Waterfall is one of the most iconic natural landmarks on the South Pacific slope, located about a 90 minute drive south of Manuel Antonio near the bohemian surf town of Dominical. The site features a spectacular two-tiered cascade tucked deep within a canyon, dropping a total of over 200 feet into a massive, deep volcanic basin.

Marino Ballena National Park

Located roughly an hour south in Uvita, Parque Nacional Marino Ballena protects over 13,000 acres of marine territory and pristine coastline. It is internationally famous for its unique geological formations and its role as a critical sanctuary for migrating marine mammals. At low tide, two opposing ocean currents deposit sand over a rocky reef, forming a massive, perfectly shaped "Whale's Tail" sandbar that you can walk out onto.

Rainmaker Conservation Project

This 1500 acre private reserve gem is located in the heart of the Quepos Biological Corridor, otherwise known as the Fila Chonta Mountain Range. Rainmaker features an authentic, rugged system of hanging bridges built into the primary forest canopy, clear mountain rivers, and natural pools where you can swim. There are also caretaker’s homes, a rancho/restaurant and all the necessary accommodations to allow for easy access, enjoyment and research. Rainmaker is just 20 minutes to all of the resorts of Manuel Antonio and Quepos, yet it is a world of its own.

Carara National Park

Situated 90 minutes north near the Tárcoles River, Parque Nacional Carara marks the sharp transition zone where the dry northern tropical forests meet the humid southern Pacific rainforest. The park provides easy access to an incredibly unique pocket of biodiversity that attracts serious birdwatchers from all over the world. This primary rainforest serves as one of the last remaining secure nesting strongholds for the wild scarlet macaw on the Pacific slopes.
