Palo Verde National Park
It
forms part of the biographic unit known as Tempisque lowlands.
These flood plains create a mosaic of diverse habitats that
are bordered by rivers and a ridge of limestone hills. The
flora and fauna of the park is amazingly rich, especially
migratory birds that fly from North or South America searching
for warm climates during the winter time. Visitors may discover
the wonders of the park either by foot or boat, navigating
on the Bebedero River or Tempisque River.
The
Tempisque lowlands consist of vast flooded plains covered
with river and lake silt deposits. They are the habitat
of many species of waterfowl and wading birds.
